Astra Scanners

Astra 6400 & 6450 (Firewire) scanners.
UMAX are currently Beta testing an OS X (up zo 10.1.5 ) VistaScan driver (now at 4.0.19b). This is availble for download from the Driver Downloads page.

Currently most Umax scanners driven by VistaScan software will not run in Mac OS X natively, but will run in the Classic environment.

PowerLook Scanners - PowerLook III, 1000, 1100, 1120, 2100XL.

The above PowerLook scanners driven by MagicScan now have a native OS X ( up to 10.1.5) driver available. Magicscan v5.0 is available for download from the Driver Downloads page.

Mac OS 10.2 (Jaguar) - The above PowerLook scanners driven by MagicScan now have a native OS X ( up to 10.2.6) driver available. Magicscan v5.1 is available for download from the Driver Downloads page.
To run a SCSI PowerLook scanner, you must have an OS X compatible SCSI card with an OS X driver/extension. (UK testing has been done using an Adaptec 2906)

Mac OS 10.3 (Panther) - There is no "Panther" support available by UMAX itself.Please check the 3rd Party drivers.

3rd Party drivers

Vuescan - drivers are available for the Astra 3400/50, 5400/50, 6400/50, SCSI models plus the PowerLook range of scanners.

SilverFast - drivers are available for the PowerLook and Astra range scanners. For "Panther" support check for the "Panther Ready" logo.
