Troubleshooting Parallel Scanner Installations
Title

Description

Scanner Not Found
Link or Hardware Error
The most common causes of link errors are:
  • Parallel port configuration - the parallel settings in the PC BIOS are sometimes set to BiDirectional by default, but EPP or ECP are required. See Parallel FAQ for recommended settings.
  • Many parallel ports will not work with three or more devices connected (eg scanner, ZIP drive and printer) - try the scanner on its own.
  • There are various issues with parallel printers connected to the plug-thru port - see Tech Note on sharing ports.
