The most common
causes of link errors are:
- Parallel port configuration - the parallel settings in the
PC BIOS are sometimes set to BiDirectional by default, but EPP or ECP are required. See Parallel FAQ for recommended settings.
- Many parallel ports will not work with three or more devices
connected (eg scanner, ZIP drive and printer) - try the scanner on its own.
- There are various issues with parallel printers connected to
the plug-thru port - see Tech Note on sharing ports.
